Bulk Buy · 2 or more courses

Bulk Buy: the more courses you choose, the less each one costs

Tick any 2 or more of the online courses on your profession’s page: 2 courses are €175, 3 are €250, 5 are €400 and 10 are €700, the saving applied in the basket. With 10 or more online courses, a live face-to-face course via Zoom is €550 instead of €600. Every course is written to help you evidence insight, reflection and remediation after a complaint, an investigation or a fitness to practise inquiry, and counts as CPD, so you can build your set around the concerns the complaint raises.

How it works

From letter to evidence, in four steps

1Read the letter you have been sent

Identify which regulator is writing to you and at which stage: a complaint being screened or investigated, the Preliminary Proceedings Committee, or an inquiry. Your profession’s page sets out who decides, and what each stage is for.

2Choose your courses

Tick the courses that match the concerns the letter names, rather than the broadest ones. With 10 or more, add a live course at €550 if you want a facilitated session.

3Work through them at your own pace

Access opens straight away. Each course issues a dated certificate on completion, issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses.

4Write your own reflection

The certificates show that you acted, and when. The reflection has to be yours, in your own words, and that is what a committee reads.

Why a set

Why professionals take a set rather than a single course

Insight, reflection and remediation run through the sanctions guidance the Irish regulators publish, and a single course seldom evidences all three.

Insight, reflection and remediation are separate

Insight is understanding what happened and its effect. Reflection is setting that down in your own words. Remediation is what you changed, with evidence that you changed it. A response that shows one without the others leaves a gap.

A complaint can raise more than one concern

A single letter can raise honesty, boundaries and record keeping together. Several courses let you answer each concern rather than only one of them.

Dates matter as much as content

Every certificate carries a date. Work done early, while a complaint is at its first stage, shows on the dates in a way that work done later cannot.

It costs less as a set

From 2 courses the price of each one comes down: ten are €700 against €100 each on their own. The saving is there so that cost is not the reason a concern goes unanswered.

Written for your regulator

The two courses written for your profession follow your own regulator’s code. The courses you choose speak to the letter you received, not to remediation in general.

What a course cannot do

No course decides a complaint or an inquiry, and no provider can promise an outcome. Be wary of anyone who says otherwise.

Buying for a team or organisation?

Licences, member discounts and live team training

The Bulk Buy Offer is for one person. If you need places for colleagues, blocks of seats and member discounts are quoted separately, and the four live courses can be run for your whole team via Zoom.

Key terms

What these words mean

Fitness to practise

The term all five Irish regulators use for their complaints and inquiries process: whether a registered professional’s conduct, performance or health allows them to practise safely. In Ireland it is paired with the word complaint: a complaint is made, it may be investigated, and a fitness to practise inquiry may follow.

Insight

Understanding what went wrong, why it happened, and the effect it had on patients, on colleagues and on public trust in the profession. NMBI’s sanctions guidance puts it plainly: “Mere acknowledgement of the findings does not necessarily demonstrate insight.”

Reflection

Setting that understanding down honestly and in your own words, including what you would do differently and what you have already changed. Reflection is the written record of insight.

Remediation

The concrete steps taken so that the same thing does not happen again, such as further study, supervision or changes to how you work, together with evidence that they happened. The Medical Council’s guidance describes undertakings as a way to “provide a mechanism for the remediation and development of a Practitioner”.

These descriptions are our summary of how the terms are used by the Irish regulators, with two short quotations from their published guidance. They are not legal advice. Your indemnifier, your union or professional body, or a solicitor should advise on your own matter.

Official guidance

Read your own regulator, first and last

Nothing here replaces what your regulator publishes about its own process. These are the pages worth reading before you write anything.

Healthcare Ethics Ireland is an independent provider of remediation courses. We are not affiliated with any Irish regulator. Certificates are issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses.

FAQs

Bulk Buy Offer: questions and answers

What is included in the Bulk Buy Offer?

Any 2 or more of the online courses on your profession’s page, chosen by you and priced by the number you choose: 2 courses €175, 3 €250, 5 €400 and 10 €700. Each carries 2 CPD hours and issues its own certificate on completion, issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses, so ten courses give you 20 CPD hours and ten dated certificates. Ten at the single-course price of €100 would be €1,000: ten for €700 is ten for the price of seven, a saving of €300.

Can I buy fewer than ten courses?

Yes. Bulk Buy starts at 2 courses: 2 courses are €175, 3 are €250, 4 are €325, 5 to 8 are €80 each, 9 are €700 and 10 or more are €70 a course (Bulk Buy of 10). Nine courses cost the same as ten, so the tenth course costs nothing more. Every course in your basket counts towards the price, and with 10 or more online courses a face-to-face course is €550. The offer is for one person.

What does the €1,250 option add?

One of the four face-to-face courses, live via video link on Zoom, on top of ten online courses: Probity and Ethics; Ethics and Professionalism; Professional Boundaries; or the Reflection Workshop. With 10 or more online courses in your basket the live course is €550 against €600 on its own, carries 5 CPD hours and runs on a set date: €700 for the ten online courses plus €550, €1,250 in total. The lower price is applied in the basket. A one-to-one sitting is €300 extra.

Is there a discount for buying several courses?

Yes. One online course is €100. Two courses are €175 (you save €25), three are €250 (you save €50), five are €400 (you save €100) and ten are €700 (you save €300), so each course costs €88, €83 or €80, and from €70 a course (Bulk Buy of 10). Add courses: the saving is applied in the basket. With 10 or more online courses, a face-to-face course via Zoom is €550 instead of €600.

Which courses can I choose from?

From the 24 courses on your own profession’s Bulk Buy page. Choose your regulator below, then tick the courses you need from the list set out there; courses added from other pages count towards the same price in the basket. If you are facing a complaint, you can start with the nine-course Core Set: the ethics and professionalism pair written for your profession, insight, reflection, remediation, ensuring no repeat, the fitness to practise process, dealing with a complaint, and rebuilding trust. Then add one course that matches the specific concern raised.

Which regulators do the courses cover?

All five Irish regulators: the Medical Council, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, the Dental Council, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and CORU. Each group has its own Bulk Buy page. Professions not yet regulated in Ireland, such as psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists, buy through the All Other Healthcare Professionals page.

Do I get a certificate for every course?

Yes. Each completed course issues its own certificate, issued by Healthcare Ethics Courses, recording your name, the course title, 2 CPD hours and the date of completion. That date is what makes it usable as evidence in a remediation plan, in a written response to your regulator, or before a Preliminary Proceedings Committee or an inquiry.

How long do I have to use them?

Each course runs for twelve months from the date of purchase. Within those twelve months you can return to a course as many times as you like, including after you have completed it and downloaded the certificate, at no further cost. A certificate records the date you completed the course, and that date does not change; a course bought again within twelve months is half price.

Do the hours count towards my CPD?

That is for your own scheme to say. Each certificate records 2 CPD hours. Doctors record CPD in a professional competence scheme, with at least 50 hours in each scheme year under the Medical Council’s 2025 Rules; CORU registrants need 30 CPD credits in every 12 months; pharmacists record CPD in the Irish Institute of Pharmacy’s ePortfolio. Keep each certificate with your own written reflection.

Will completing several courses decide my complaint?

No. No course decides a complaint, a Preliminary Proceedings Committee decision or a fitness to practise inquiry, and no provider can promise an outcome. A dated certificate shows that you identified the concern and acted on it, and when. The reflection you write alongside it is what the committee reads.

Is the Bulk Buy Offer available to organisations?

The Bulk Buy Offer is for individual purchasers. Organisations buying for their people are covered by course licences or a member discount, quoted separately, and the four live courses can be run for a whole team; see Face-to-Face Team Training.

Is what I do confidential?

Yes. A course you buy yourself is confidential. We do not tell your regulator, a Preliminary Proceedings Committee, an inquiry committee, an employer, a union or an indemnifier that you are a customer. Your certificate is yours, and you decide whether to show it to anyone.
